Future strategies for decarbonisation of carbon fibre products: A roadmap to net zero 2050
Delegates at JEC World 2025 have been discovering how NCC is spearheading innovations around carbon fibre recycling and the development of more sustainable fibres. But which other strategies should we prioritise for carbon fibre in pursuit of #NetZero 2050?
A new paper from the NCC sustainability team has been published in the Journal of Cleaner Production. Funded by SusWIND, it interrogates future strategies to identify a clear roadmap.
The paper explores:
- How achieving net zero electricity generation alone can lead to approximately 50% reduction in carbon fibre Global Warming Potential
- The imperative for lower-carbon solutions in the thermal energy used across the carbon fibre production value chain
"While transitioning to green electricity is crucial for CF decarbonisation, this study emphasises the potential for lower-carbon solutions in the thermal energy used across the CF production value chain."
Delegates at JEC World 2025 can find out more by visiting the NCC team at Hall 6, Stand T62. Find out more about NCC at JEC World 2025 here.
