The Composites Leadership Forum (CLF) was established with Government support as one of the recommendations of the 2009 Strategy [UK Composites Strategy 2009*]. The CLF is the ‘voice’ of the UK composites industry determining and supporting actions which will enable the continued growth necessary to capture a significant share of the global composites market.

On 4th February 2016, Heraeus Noblelight held a very successful demonstrator event at the NCC to showcase their breakthrough Humm3 heating technology for Automated Fibre Placement (AFP). The group of over 40 invited guests were given a close-up view of the technology in action, with a practical demonstration including high speed dry fibre lay-up as well as a presentation of the main highlights of the flashlamp's journey from initial concept to full demonstrator system.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne has confirmed a £37 million investment in a new aerospace Wing Integration Centre at the Airbus site in Filton, Bristol. The NCC was invited by Airbus, to attend the announcement of the new facility. The ‘Wing of the Future’ centre will complement the existing capability at the NCC and provide an advanced testing centre for large structural components. Specialist measurement service provider INSPHERE Ltd will offer access to the National Physical Laboratory's (NPL) leading measurement training programme in south-west England, as part of a new agreement.
On 9th and 10th February, the NCC welcomes all Members to attend the BINDT Workshop on NDT/SHM Requirements for Aerospace Composites. This two-day workshop looks to establish what is required of NDT and SHM to facilitate game-changing solutions for new, more efficient composite designs and new design and manufacturing processes for both civil and military aircraft.
