Across the High Value Manufacturing Catapult there is a wealth of capability which has application to the oil and gas sector. As a result, the NCC, AFRC, and MTC have established the HVMC Oil and Gas Consortium which aims to provide a front door to the HVMC in Aberdeen, the European capital of the O&G sector.

The NCC was pleased to attend the 15th Birthday celebrations of Eunomia at @Bristol last month.

The event opened with a welcome and introduction by Eunomia Director, Joe Papineschi, which was followed by presentations on current issues and research in the waste sector. Of particular relevance to the NCC were the issues surrounding marine plastics.

The National Composites Centre (NCC) is delighted to announce the joining of latest Associate Member, A C Marine & Composites. A C Marine & Composites is a multiple Olympic medal-winning boat builder, specialising in the manufacture of composite components for the marine and renewable energy sectors. The composites specialist joins the 43 industrial Members of the NCC, swelling the number of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to five. The full range of NCC Members spans from automotive, aerospace and oil and gas to metrology specialists and nano technologies providers.

The NCC was delighted to attend the 27th Annual International SICOMP Conference on Manufacturing and Design of Composites on Monday 30th - Tuesday 31st May 2016 in Linköping. This two-day conference offered a tour of SAAB Aerostructures in Linköping and two days of interesting lectures, table top display and poster sessions on topics such as Composite laminar flow wings, Thin ply composites, Bio-based composites and carbon fibre production.

On Monday 23rd – Thursday 26th May 2016, the NCC attended SAMPE Long Beach 2016.
SAMPE Long Beach 2016 is the only conference and exhibition exclusively dedicated to advanced materials and processes. With over 250 exhibiting companies showcasing their products and solutions during this event, the full scale technical conference featured the latest technologies and research advancements concerning the advanced materials and processes community.

The NCC training team is working with subject experts to arrange a series of Demand and Development seminars.
The seminars will form part of an exercise to determine training and development requirements within the key manufacturing processes in the composites industry. 

The NCC is delighted to host the first seminar in the series on Wednesday 15th June 2016.

This opening seminar will be focused on Jointing and Bonding. Tier 2 Member, 3M, will be the supporting the session, providing content as experts and a leading provider in adhesives and sealants.

Advanced composite materials combine great strength and stiffness with low weight and high performance in demanding environments. This makes them ideal for use in aerospace applications, and in the UK it is therefore the aerospace industry which has driven the development and manufacture of relatively low-volume, high value composite materials.

On Thursday 16th June, the NCC will be hosting the National Aerospace Technology Exploitation Programme (NATEP) Showcase 2016. NATEP is a national programme under which aerospace supply chain companies are developing more than 100 new technologies for the UK and global aerospace industry.
