The National Composites Centre (NCC) welcomes newest Associate Member, Loop Technology
This month, the National Composites Centre (NCC) welcomed Loop Technology, as the latest Associate Member. Loop Technology brings extensive expertise in the provision of advanced automation systems with a particular focus on composites manufacturing. This exciting partnership will see the building and launch of the state-of-the-art Automated Preforming Cell, further developing cutting-edge composite related automation systems.
Alison Starr, Executive Director of Strategy and Business Development at the NCC, said “We recognise the importance of automation and manufacturing informatics in the future of composites manufacturing, and its role in helping our customers to be competitive which drives everything that we do here at the National Composites Centre. The addition of companies like Loop Technology to our Associate membership portfolio is vital in the development of digital manufacturing for composites. They have had significant involvement in the establishment of our new Preforming Cell, which will be open and ready for industry use in summer this year.”
The NCC currently has over 40 Members from a wide variety of sectors including, aerospace, automotive, renewables, oil and gas, transport, security and defence. Loop Technology joins the Associate membership community alongside a number of other engineering, software and materials providers. The NCC Associate membership offers wide-ranging services to suit the varied needs of Members and the composites industry, ranging from equipment and software providers to engineering trade magazines.
Loop Technology’s core focus is in advanced automation and how this is applied to composites manufacturing. As a result of the rapid growth in composites automation across multi-sector industries their focus on automation in composites manufacturing has seen them work with some of the biggest names in the aerospace industry.

It is owned and hosted by the University of Bristol. The Government announced a further £28m in the 2012 Autumn Statement for the expansion of the NCC. The NCC is a partner of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult.
